With the conquest of the kingdom of Azeroth in the first war, the orcs are now preparing for an invasion of Lordaeron and conquer the remaining human, dwarven and elvisch realms. In an effort to counter this invasion the humans, elves and dwarves formed an alliance in the hope to avert the same fate the kingdom of Azeroth met.

The bloody war between people and orcs can begin …

The game comes with many new features such as fighting not only over land but also over sea and air, SVGA 640×480 resolution graphics with many newly-rendered buildings and units, multiplayer-support with up to eight players, as well as a Red Book audio soundtrack, and a scenario editor that allows players to design and create their own scenarios. The editor requires Windows 3.1 or greater, even though WarCraft II is a DOS-based game.

The original WarCraft and WarCraft 2, including their Tides of Darkness and Beyond the Dark Portal expansions, are now available.

Warcraft 2 Remastered

Warcraft II allows players to play AI opponents in separate Human and Orc campaigns, and in stand-alone scenarios. Most of the campaign missions follow the pattern “collect resources, build buildings and units, destroy opponents”. However, some have other objectives, such as rescuing troops or forts, or escorting important characters through enemy territory.[7]

Warcraft II requires players to collect resources, and to produce buildings and units in order to defeat an opponent in combat. The Human Town Hall and Orc Great Hall produce basic workers that dig gold from mines and chop wood from forests and then deliver them to their Halls.

Both buildings can be upgraded twice, each increasing usable resources per load from the workers.

Players can also construct Shipyards, which can produce both combat ships and Oil Tankers. Tankers build construction offshore Oil Platforms and then deliver the oil to buildings on the shoreline. As all three resources are non-renewable, players must use them efficiently.

Forests can also serve as defensive walls. Workers can also construct Farms, each of which provides food for up to four units, and additional units cannot be produced until enough Farms are built. Farms, being very tough for their cost, are also employed as defensive walls.

Humans and Orcs have sets of buildings with similar functions, but different names and graphics, for producing ground, naval, and air units. All but basic combat units require the assistance of other buildings, or must be produced at buildings that have prerequisite buildings, or both.

Many buildings can upgrade combat units.

When advanced units appear, the Orcs have a strong advantage in ground combat, while the Humans have the more powerful fleet and spellcasters. The most advanced ground combatants on each side can be upgraded and taught some spells, which are different for the two sides.

Some campaign missions feature hero units, which are more powerful than normal units of the same type, have unique pictures and names, and must not die, as that causes the failure of the mission.

Warcraft IIISince Warcraft III: Reforged was announced, fans of the RTS series have dreamed of all the new new mod possibilities using the upgraded engine. Once such dream is coming to life, as Warcraft 2 is being remade and remastered by an ambitious group of fans from the Hive Workshop. This large scale project, titled Chronicles of the Second War: Tides of Darkness, intends to not only remaster both original campaigns, but also add Warcraft 3 hero design and sidequests, as well as tying together story elements from World of Warcraft and the background books.
In addition to an outstanding teaser video showcasing their plans, the first four missions are already available for testing as demo missions for Warcraft III: Reforged!
The teaser video already shows a lot of detail, including new custom models representing some of the heroes from Warcraft 2. Notice Orgrim Doomhammer as an unmounted, recolored version of Thrall, and his version of the eponymous Doomhammer retaining the deadly spike which was originally shown in the Warcraft 2 manual art drawn by Chris Metzen in 1995. Many Alliance models are similarly remastered, with plans to create unique custom models for most units and buildings, including unique elements for the different human kingdoms and orcish clans.

Since the release of Warcraft 3 Reign of Chaos and Frozen Throne - I had a dream to recreate Warcraft 2 campaigns using the Warcraft 3 engine capabilities.
I've been creating maps and models, doing long pauses, quitting and remaking stuff for years.
When Warcraft III: Reforged was released it inspired me to finish this campaign.
At that time in early 2020 new teammates that were driven by the same inner fire, contributed to the project significantly - @Shadi, @Moonman, @Bagysta, @Triceron and @Antontama.
Chronicles of the Second War: Tides of Darkness - is the attempt to reforge the Warcraft 2 Tides of Darkness Campaign.
This is very complicated and challenging task because of great discrepancies between WC2 and WC3/WOW lore, different game mechanics (Naval) and big amount of chapters to make.
At the Current moment the maps for Tides of Darkness Orc campaign are almost finished and the polishing, voice acting and bugfixing process is in progress.
All the team is working on the project in its free time so we cannot set any deadline.
Since Custom campaign feature is not available yet, the team decided to release first 4 missions of ACT 1 of Tides of Darkness Orc campaign as demo maps.

Gameplay is vastly improved from WC2, now including sidequests, creeps and other mechanics from WC3.

Custom Assets and more will feature both WarCraft II aesthetic as well as appearances from World of Warcraft.

- Dynamic weather and fog
- Bloodsplats during the fights as well as prolonged corpse decay time for more realism
- Voiced over dialogues (some still not final!)
Lore / Story will be heavy drawn from established lore in original games, World of Warcraft, Chronicles and other book series.
While there are some discrepancies when it comes to certain events and characters,
we made sure to deliver a clean, straight and presentable series of events that transpired in the second war.
- In the book Teron'gor was kiled in the assault of Temple of the Dead, and Rakmar Sharpfang survived.
Later Rakmar was sacrificed by Gul'dan in a ritual to create Deathknights.
In the campaign we switched their fates to pop up Teron, since he is more important character for the warcraft 2 plot unfolding.
Rakmar will be shown as deathknight cameo.
- In the official Lore Orgrim personally slayed the warlocks in the temple of the damned and imprisoned Gul'dan.
In the campaign Orgrim was busy with Stormwind siege and ordered Temple of the Damned siege to Blackhand sons that submitted to Orgrim after he killed their father.
- In official lore of the second war the main leader of the missions is Utok Scratcher.
In campaign he will be shown orc semi-hero (i.e. Naisha, Falric..), and in human campaign he will be a hero enemy boss during the siege of Lordaeron.
Characters from the original early games will be featured in our campaign.

There's no word on when exactly this will be completed, as it's a fan made project undertaken in the developers free time, but the work that has gone in so far is outstanding, and bound to keep us eagerly waiting for more!
