Ferric Vst

Free VST Effect Download: FerricTDS. This VST simulates some dynamic effects as can be obtained with some high quality tape gear which can create very slight, but overall, excellent effects that breathe more life into your productions. Inspired by the smooth dynamic shaping capabilities of some high-end reel-to-reel tape recorders, this plug-in. FerricTDS – Tape Dynamics Simulator is a free exciter and enhancer VST plugin developed by Variety Of Sound. Compatible OS(s): Windows. FerricTDS – Tape Dynamics Simulator was the Winner of the KVR Developer Challenge 2009. Ferric Tape Dynamics Simulator has been one of my absolutely favorite plugins for years. Unfortunately, it’s only available in 32 bit Windows VST format. That worked when I first tried it on 32 bit Studio One on Windows, but got more complicated to use when I made the switch to 64 bit, and impossible to use when I switched to a Mac and Logic Pro.

Vst plugins for guitar, bass and keyboard.

Inspired by the smooth dynamic shaping capabilities of some high-end reel-to-reel tape recorders, FerricTDS – Tape Dynamics Simulator offers dynamics processing, 2 saturation modes and limiting.
Usage tips:
-Use the TRIM knob to level the outgoing audio and for handy A/B comparisons
-For optimum processing and results, the input level to the plug-in could be
adjusted to peak around 0dBFS
-Alternatively, use the INPUT adjustment knob to bring the incoming signal onto
duty level (plug-in internally)
-Use <ctrl> + mouse left click on a knob or switch to restore default position
-Use <shift> + mouse left click on a knob to fine adjust values
-Use this plug-in as an insert effect in any mono or stereo channel of your VST

I know this sounds like an ironic question because this award winning plugin is so famous. But, what does it do? I can tweak the settings like crazy and I can't really tell whats going on. In my imagination, I turn the knobs and it reaches or goes beyond ferox or magneto, but in reality i can't get hyped.
By being unable to hear the obvious and saying so, It feels like I am committing some kind of a sin because the makers of these plugins have such a cult following for releasing free goods. Reading the comments at the website and the manual hasn't satisfied (or saturated) me. I really want to love it or hate it or something, I feel dull in the head or simply left out. Like I am the only one who can't really hear the difference between active and bypassed.
I wanted to ask this question because maybe there is someone in the tech area who can clue me a little about what to listen for.
Thanks and Respect goes out to everyone.
